George A. Nichols, Jr.

Board Member

Assistant Chief George A. Nichols, Jr. oversees the daily operations for the Prince George's County Police Department (PGPD). An executive-level police officer and US Marine Corps veteran, his career includes over 28 years of law enforcement experience as a PGPD member at various ranks and command posts. He currently serves as second in command of the core managerial team leading more than 1,700 police officers and 300 civilian members serving over 900,000 residents and business owners across a diverse demographic and geographic area directly within the National Capital Region. George holds a B.S. in Criminal Justice from Colorado Technical University, an M.A. in Human Resources Training and Development from Seton Hall University, graduate of the Boston University Senior Management Institute for Police Session 65 (SMIP), and graduate of the Police Executive Leadership Institute Session IV (PELI).

George is a 2017 initiate of the Hyattsville/ Landover (MD) Alumni Chapter, Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. Where he has held the positions of Lt. Strategus, Strategus, Assistant Keeper of Records, Keeper of Records, and he currently serves as the Chapter’s Vice Polemarch (Vice President). George currently resides in Prince George’s County with his wife.
